Frequently Asked Questions

If you have other questions or issues, please contact us.

  • Are these handmade?

Yes. Every Slipcore mat is hand-built, individually inspected, and test-fit on a turntable before it leaves the shop. Small variations are part of the craft, never an excuse for sloppy work.

  • What’s your return policy??

15-Day Stoked Guarantee. If you’re not stoked, send it back within 15 days of delivery for a refund. Returns must be in clean, original condition. For defects or workmanship issues, we’ll make it right at our cost.

  • Do they spin?

Yes. They’re slipmats. That’s the job.

  • Can I battle DJ/scratch on these?

We haven’t built or tuned SLP-1 or LOFT-1 specifically for battle routines. Some DJs may love the feel; others will prefer ultra-slick felt + wax paper setups. If heavy back-cueing is your world, test on a secondary deck first and dial in your settings.

  • Will I need to adjust my tone arm height (VTA)?

Probably. SLP-1 and LOFT-1 are thicker than stock mats, so you’ll likely want to raise your tone arm to keep the cartridge level and sounding right. Read more: Tone-Arm Height & Setup

  • What are they made of?

High-grade premium felt and ultracell foam for stability, feel, and durability. We choose materials for function first, then aesthetics.

  • I see dents or impressions—did I ruin it?

No. High-quality closed-cell foams can take impressions if you set heavy or hard-edged items on them (looking at you, headphones). This is cosmetic and doesn’t affect spin or sound. Some marks relax over time; some don’t. Best practice: keep records on your slipmat, not gear.

  • Will this change the sound?

It can, for the better. Different mats change interface, damping, and VTA. Many users report tighter bass and less chatter; others simply love the cueing feel. As always, correct your tone-arm height and tracking force for best results.

  • Belt-drive or direct-drive?

Both. Just note that thicker, lower-friction mats may change start/stop feel on lighter weight tunrtables and record players. On belt-drives with light platters, the motor may need a second to come up to speed.

  • Care & cleaning tips?

Keep sharp, hot, or heavy items off the mat. Just like vinyl.

  • Will it fit with my dust cover?

Most setups are fine, but SLP-1 and LOFT-1 add height. If your cartridge rides tall and your dust cover is tight, you may be an edge case and should check clearance for an additional 6-8mm (max case). This is outlier territory, 99.9% will be fine without checking.

  • Can I stack this on my stock rubber mat?

We don’t recommend stacking. You’ll complicate VTA, increase height, and introduce slip weirdness. Use Slipcore instead of the stock mat.

  • Does it work with 7"s, 10"s, picture discs, and weights?

    Yes!

  • Are the mats reversible?

The CS-1 base model is our only reversible slipmat. Because of the contact nature of the foam, we designed the slipmats to have classic felt as the base for sliding and cueing for a familiar control and feel. SLP-1 and Loft-1 always felt side down.

  • How consistent are colors and texture?

Within tight tolerances, but these are made by humans with real materials. Expect micro-variations that don’t affect performance.

  • Do you take custom orders or imprints?

Limited runs only. We do precision graphic imprinting on certain materials when scheduling allows.

  • Shipping & packaging?

Mats ship flat in protective sleeves and standard record boxes. Domestic ships USPS, international orders are welcome (duties/taxes are on you). Tracking provided on all shipments.

  • Something arrived wrong?

Email a quick photo and your order number to us and we’ll sort it ASAP.
